This album is a collection of songs mostly inspired by loss and the anticipation of it. The lines beyond which we do not know what happens… the horizons which little by little lead us to progressive ends and gradient beginnings. Some such progressions lead us to places we anticipate to know, like a sunset leading us into the night. We know there will be stars. We can count on the moon. Some progressions are disguised in some way, making us anticipate certain things, leading us one step at a time and slowly towards an absurdity that had we not been taken there groomingly, we would never have chosen to go there in the first place. Like an absurdity beyond belief that is only absurd to those outside it. Some progressions too are into the void. Leaps of faith we call them. No one knows where they lead or if anything survives, like the event horizon of a black hole beyond which nothing escapes, even light. Once the gravitational pull establishes its hold, it’s a one-way ticket.
Darkness is fate.

Aida Shahghasemi is a Minneapolis based vocalist and musician. She received her Masters degree from New York University in Art and Public Policy. She has worked with different New York and Minnesota based social justice art organizations and has served as an assistant director at Hamline University's Making Waves Social Justice Theatre Troupe.
